Resolve AI markers that turn into Envato searches

I used to hunt B-roll after I already knew the cut cold. That meant replaying dialogue just to remember what visual I wanted, then inventing search terms from memory. Slow, and the keywords were usually soft.

On a recent Short I ran Claude (or ChatGPT) through Resolve’s AI agent against a transcript. The chat table is fine. What I actually care about is the markers that land on the timeline.

Workflow

The agent writes search keywords into Resolve marker names. I put alternates in the same field with a pipe, the way they showed up on that edit: child backpack | woman leading team meeting. In Notes I keep a short insert window, usually 2-4 seconds inside the beat. Double click the marker, copy the keywords, paste into Envato, pull the shot.

That’s it. The timeline becomes the shot list. I’m not scrubbing VO again to reconstruct the idea. I’m not guessing keywords an hour later.

Stack on that Short: DaVinci Resolve AI agent, Claude or ChatGPT for the keyword pass, Envato for the pulls, vertical delivery. Same marker pattern works on longer edits. I just haven’t needed it as hard there yet.

Limits

If the transcript is vague, the markers are vague. I still pick the clip by eye. This doesn’t grade the story for me. It only speeds up the search side and keeps the keywords glued to the dialogue that needs them.

If a first Envato term comes back thin, the pipe alternate is already sitting on the marker. That backup is why I bother writing both.

Next time you’re mid cut and about to open Envato empty handed, put the keyword on a marker first and search from there.
